Codes of Conduct and Best Practice

The interests of the consumer are always foremost for Aquaculturists. The ethos of the Federation of European Aquaculture (FEAP) is embodied in its Code of Conduct for European aquaculture. This is to assure sustainable development and improvement in aquaculture techniques in order to produce food that is desirable and acceptable for the consumer.

Aquamedia also provides nutritional information about the products of aquaculture and why they are an essential part of a healthy diet. Knowledge in this sphere is developing fast and consumers can find the latest information on this crucial aspect of aquaculture.

This approach, combined with the recipe section, gives consumers the most useful handbook of fish use. Finally Aquamedia recognises the important role fish farming plays in the restocking of all types of waters, both for conservation and leisure or tourism purposes. Tourism, in particular, is an important area to which aquaculture contributes and, in many parts of Europe, the demand for sport angling is only sustained by fish farming, a practice that has existed for centuries.
