In the initial days following hatching, live food (i.e. Artemia naupli) has to be offered. Later, the diet is changed to a composition of mixed dried food. There are several commercial feeds produced especially for carp larvae and juveniles on the market. On the farm the best results are obtained when carp larvae are reared in the temperature range of 28 - 31 °C and at a density of 50 – 100 larvae per liter. At times, you can clearly note an evident incidence of cannibalism in the rearing stage. A carp fish with a very high rate of growth may become a predator.
