Farming in harmony with nature. Each site must not exceed the environment's carrying capasity.
In the fish farming industry the farmers have good control of the environment and feed that the fish are exposed to. This helps to grow a healthy animal free of diseases and with the right composition of fat and proteins as demanded for human nutrition.
Farming also helps feed a growing planet in an efficient economic manner. Today farmed salmon is cheaper than cod, while it used to be the other way around before the age of salmon farming.
The farming of fish probably has a positive influence on the level of consumption of fish relative to meat. This is good for human health (See the hot topic "Fish is good for your health").
The farming of salmon gives meaning in terms of work and value to the people living in the coastal regions. It puts focus on maintaining a clean and healthy environment, which is necessary for the optimal growth of their fish and shellfish.
