Fish feeding is performed using industrial feeds based on high quality, nutrient-rich fishmeal and fish oil. In order to provide fish with all essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals, a precise knowledge of the fish’s biology and requirements is needed. Armed with this knowledge the farmer is able to deliver a product with similar qualities of taste, shape and colour to that of its wild counterpart. The fish are produced under the strictest of hygiene and quality standards.
Fish feeding is usually performed by hand, a procedure that resembles seeding. As our knowledge of fish ecology and requirements has improved, fish farmers have adopted electronically operated feeding systems which offer fish the appropriate food quantity as requested. The introduction of such systems has benefited both fish and environment resulting in the minimum of wastes.
