Interview with Mr Jean Marc Rossetto, President of ALMAR

What is the history of the ALMAR enterprise?

The ALMAR is a "co-operative society of production and work" established in 1994.

How many workers are employed on the fish farm?

There are fourteen people including partners and employees involved in the ALMAR enterprise. Within this group, there is a diverse range of occupational profiles related to the sector.

When is the busiest time of year for you on the fish farm, and why?

The busiest time of year occurs in the last three months of the year, October, November and December just before the Christmas period when the demand for the product Tapes Semi Decussatus (or Philippinarum) is at its highest.

What about ALMAR perspectives?

Growth of the aquaculture industry is related to, and conditioned by the "Excise Licenses" that the Public Administration (State, Regional, Provincial, Municipal) provide to companies via the Port Authorities. Encounters with bureaucratic obstacles, can mean limitation to plans for future development. At present, ALMAR is focused on investing to improve existing technologies and to develop innovative instruments for packing of the clam in the end product phase.
