Fish Tanks
The fish are kept in tanks ranging in sizes. The volume of water in each tank can be manipulated. The turbot are graded as required into different tanks as a result of different rates of growth.
The halibut is a larger more active fish than the turbot, spending more time swimming, and require greater area per fish. Halibut are mottled black and white in colour, and is also graded according to size during the on-growing phase of culture. The fish are fed with a pelleted formulated feed, made of pasteurised ground down high oil fish from the wild, mostly anchovies, pilchards, sardines etc. and then vitamins are incorporated into the feed itself. The feed pellets are of the size the fish can eat at each growth stage. As the fish get bigger larger feed particles are used, and these can vary between floating and sinking pellets depending on what we require.
